Vandiyur Mariamman Teppakulam, a temple dedicated to Lord Vigneshwara is also a major attraction here. Sound and Light shows at Tirumalai Naik palace also attract a lot of people. The Gandhi museum is dedicated to the memory of father of the nation - Mahatma Gandhi. Proudly carrying the tag of Tamil Nadu's cultural capital, Madurai is also a centre of art, music, dance and literature. Munnar and Palani hills are other places of interest around Madurai. Finding wildlife in the midst of deities would double the joy of tourists. So a visit to Thekkadi Wildlife Sanctuary on the outskirts of Madurai virtually becomes compulsory.
