About Bikaner
The historic city of Bikaner was founded by Rao Bikaji, a descendant of the
founder of Jodhpur Rao Jodhaji, in 1488. The mysteries of this wonderland
unfold as one moves around this old city. The city is encircled by a
seven-kilometre long wall with five entrances, which were constructed in the
18th century.
Bikaners majestic forts and palaces are fine remnants of its glorious
past and it seems each one of them has its own story to tell. Among the
numerous attractions of Bikaner, the must-visit are the magnificent Junagarh
Fort, Lalgarh Palace, Gajner Palace, Deshnoke Temple, Karni Devi Temple,
Bhandeshwara and Sandeshwara Jain Temples, Ganga Golden Jubilee Museum, Shri
Sadul Museum and the Fort Museum. Bikaner is famous for offering the best
camel safaris in the world. Bikaner is the birthplace of the world-renowned
Bikaneri bhujia and namkeen (a salted snack made of lentils). Bikaner offers
a memorable experience, the memories of which will be cherished for
lifetime.
